At Health Ministries, our faith community nurses recognize the vital role that the church plays in promoting overall well-being.
At University United Methodist Christian Church, we believe in breaking down barriers and cultivating community. That’s why we’ve launched the SHINE Initiative—a vibrant blend of Share, Hope, Inspire, Nurture, and Everyone.
Based on a set of guiding principles for recovery from addictive, compulsive, or other behavioral problems.

SHINE
At University United Methodist Christian Church, we believe in breaking down barriers and cultivating community. That’s why we’ve launched the SHINE Initiative—a vibrant blend of Share, Hope, Inspire, Nurture, and Everyone.
Share: We come together to share our stories, experiences, and laughter. Whether it’s a meal, a conversation, or a simple smile, we create connections that matter.
Hope: In a world that sometimes feels fragmented, SHINE offers hope. Through service projects and acts of kindness, we remind each other that brighter days are ahead.
Inspire: Let’s ignite inspiration! Educational opportunities, workshops, and shared passions fuel our curiosity and deepen our understanding of one another.
Nurture: Like a garden, our souls thrive when nurtured. SHINE provides a safe space—a haven where hearts bloom, friendships flourish, and love abounds.
Everyone: No exceptions. SHINE embraces all—every age, background, and perspective. Together, we weave a tapestry of unity.
Join us on this joyful journey. Let’s SHINE our light, share a meal, and build bridges that span beyond our walls. Together, we’ll create a community where everyone belongs.
Global Outreach
Global Outreach Ministries, a vital arm of the United Methodist Church (UMC) in California, embodies the church’s mission to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world. This ministry is dedicated to extending the reach of the church beyond its walls, engaging in humanitarian efforts, evangelism, and community development both locally and globally.
In California, Global Outreach Ministries collaborates with local congregations to address pressing social issues such as homelessness, food insecurity, and disaster relief. Through partnerships with organizations like the United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR), they provide essential services and support to those in need, ensuring that the love and compassion of Christ are felt in tangible ways.
The ministry also focuses on global missions, sending missionaries to various parts of the world to support education, healthcare, and sustainable development projects.
These efforts are guided by the UMC’s core values of justice, freedom, and peace, aiming to alleviate human suffering and promote holistic well-being.
By fostering a spirit of service and community, Global Outreach Ministries in California not only strengthens the faith of its members but also creates lasting positive impacts on the lives of countless individuals around the world.
At the Korean Church, our hearts beat in rhythm with the vast Arizona desert, where the Hopi Native American Mission stands. With pride and purpose, we extend our hands across cultures, weaving a tapestry of hope and compassion.
Join us on this sacred journey. Let’s build bridges of understanding, nurture compassion, and create a legacy of love. Together, we’ll paint the Arizona sky with hope
Nozomi Japanese Mission
Nozomi—a word that means ‘hope’ in Japanese—embodies the spirit of resilience, renewal, and grace. Like cherry blossoms that bloom even after a harsh winter, the Nozomi community thrives through faith, fellowship, and love.
In the serene halls of University United Methodist Church, Nozomi gathers. Their voices blend in prayer, their laughter echoes, and their stories intertwine. Each person carries a unique tale—a tapestry woven with threads of joy, sorrow, and unwavering faith.
Nozomi is more than a mission; it’s a sanctuary of belonging. Here, hearts find solace, hands extend compassion, and souls discover purpose. Whether in quiet contemplation or spirited celebration, Nozomi reminds us that hope transcends borders, languages, and seasons.
So, let us embrace the Nozomi spirit—bold, resilient, and full of grace. Let hope bloom within us, like sakura petals carried by the wind.
University United Methodist Church welcomes all, and Nozomi’s light shines brightly within its walls. May this mission continue to inspire, uplift, and nurture the human spirit.
