Costa Rica Mission Trips (2004/2005)

During the summers of 2004 and 2005 University United Methodist Church sent mission teams to Costa Rica.  In 2005 they completed the initial stages of a multi-purpose room, which would be completed by other mission teams that would follow. Prior to the construction of the new building, the Cocori congregation had been worshiping in a wood and metal shack that had a hard packed dirt floor.

During their week in Concori the team presented the pastor with Sunday School materials and Spanish Bibles (many of the congregants are unable to afford a bible). As part of the mission trip the team conducted a half-day Vacation Bible School in San Buenaventura where, in 2004, UUMC had helped  build a Sunday School building.

Crop Walk 2007

We would like to say a great big "Thank you!" to all who walked or sponsored a walker in the 18th Annual United Interfaith CROP Hunger Walk on October 15. It was a very successful event, with 256 people participating - the biggest turn-out in 18 years! What a joy it was to see people of all ages, from so many different places of worship, from all over Orange County, joining together to raise money for the hungry in our midst and around the world.

Thanks to your generosity, UUMC was able to donate $1,599 to CROP, which was the fifth highest contribution of any of the participating churches.
