Ministries that nurture a sense of belonging to god and to this faith community

Health Ministries

As Faith Community Nurses, we affirm that the church is a place for the care of the whole person:

mind, body and spirit.

Our mission is to support health promotion, disease prevention and whole person healing through linking individuals and families with resources, providing educational opportunities and offering health and wellness screenings.

We are able to accomplish this through our shared faith and strengths with the support of the University United Methodist Church body and our affiliation with Hoag Hospital Health Ministries.

Each year we offer:

AED & CPR Training

Blood pressure checks

Community flu shot clinic

Teddy Bear Clinics

Our workshops are every other Saturday. Newcomers & beginners are welcome. Contact the office for more information.

Our quilters create prayer quilts for those receiving medical treatments and baby quilts for newborns.

Sister's BooK Group

Sisters is a women's book group!  We meet monthly at members' homes for discussion and dessert.

First-timers and occasional readers are welcome.

Sisters Book Discussion Group will next meet on June 27th at 7:30pm at the home of Carol Pukli. (714-731-0258).  We’ll start the summer with a mystery called Muffin but Murder by Victoria Hamilton. (part of the Merry Muffin Mystery series).  “Merry Muffin hopes to find a buyer for the castle she’s recently inherited.  But when she throws a party to draw interest, she finds someone who’s bought the farm instead.”

In July we’ll follow this on a more serious note by reading Isabelle Allende’s Japanese Lover.  All women of the church are welcome at Sisters meetings.  Please join us for lively discussion, sumptuous desserts and warm fellowship.  See you at Sisters!

Prayer Request

Prayer connects you with God and with others who care. When you submit a prayer request to us, it is shared with our prayer circle. With thoughtful intent, they will begin to pray for you. You may submit your prayer anonymously if you wish (

In addition to prayer we offering caring ministries that can help with meals, rides to the doctor, and warm visits if someone is unable to make it to church.  We offer support for all who are grieving or have a prayer on their heart and are seeking comfort and inspiration.

Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. -- Philippians 4:6-7
